Today’s quote comes to us from Sherillyn Ifill of the NAACP.
Here, from her discussion with MSNBC’s Brian Williams, is Ms. Ifill’s opinion of #blacklivesmatter:
“No one I know gets any, anything but tremendous grief and tragedy out of the events that happened last night because A, they are violent because people lost their lives because there are families of police officers grieving today, but also because they stand to potentially hijack the conversation that we need to be having about how to do precisely what chief of police, Dallas Chief of Police David Brown told us we have to do. He said we must stop this divisiveness between police and the communities they serve.
“That’s what the Black Lives Matter protests have been about. That’s what the policing protests have been about, they have never been anti-police, they’ve been about protecting black people and there’s proper policing in our communities and today, people who are involved in that action, people like myself who have been involved in this from the civil rights law front absolutely condemned what happened last night.”
Well, that certainly resolves the issue of what #blacklivesmatter is.
See, it’s not a racist hate group that has no problem with burning down a city’s main street, or chants like “pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon”, or “What do we want? Dead Cops. When do we want them? Now”. It is just a benevolent group dedicated to working with the police to insure more effective policing of Black neighborhoods. Just ask Sherrilyn Ifill.
As a matter of disclosure, I was a dues-paying member of the NAACP for a number of years. But I left the organization when it changed in ways that I could not accept.
I award Sherrilyn Ifill Quote Of The Day honors, for confirming to me that I did the right thing.
Now that there actions and violent rhetoric have resulted in a multitude of police being killed they spout that B.S.???
I say it is too late ms ifil. The blood of these dead police are on your hands and you can’t be cleansed by some horseshit statement now.
