With a tip of my imaginary hat to Marina Pitofsky at thehillcom, here are a few of the more salient – and saline – comments about last night’s Democrat debate from MSNBC’s former Republican and overt Trump-hater, Joe Scarborough:
“With apologies to our friends and watching, last night was a disaster for the Democratic Party. My only hope is people were not watching and I will tell you why.”
“…So they’re lined up in trench warfare, ready to get out of the trenches and charge Donald Trump. Instead, they all turn their guns on each other and shoot each other, and everybody is yelling at each other all night.
“If you’re an American and this is your introduction to these candidates and the Democratic Party, and all you see are 12 people yelling at each other, trying to interrupt each other, insulting each other, you’re like, ‘You know what. I thought Donald Trump was a clown show. I’m changing the channel.’”
Not what you’d call a rave review…
And here is what Mr. Scarborough said about the Democrat Party’s lurch hard left positions on issue after issue:
“It was a bad sign for me, as someone who desperately wants to see Donald Trump taken out of office.”
If these were the words of some Republican operative, I think most of us would smile and say “Well, what did you expect? He’s spinning for the other side”.
But, these days, Joe Scarborough is anything but a Republican operative. And the big problem for Democrats that, harsh though Mr. Scarborough’s words might be, they make a great deal of sense.
I only wish he’d added that having a bunch of NBC “moderators” whose pro-Democrat/anti-Trump sentiments were barely disguised, and an audience wildly cheering every far left position, thus egging the debate participants on to “out-progressive” each other, did not help their cause one little bit.
Mr. Scarborough intimated, but did not say in so many words, that the biggest winner of these two debates was Donald Trump. So I’m saying it for him.
