On April 19th, Target, the country’s second largest retailer, announced that its bathrooms would be open to whomever identified him or herself as being whatever gender he or she identified as.
Since then, conservative groups claim that, in total, over a million people have pledged not to shop at Target anymore.
So how has Target’s stock moved since then – compared, of course, to the overall Dow Jones average?
-The Dow Jones average is down 3.1%
-Target is down 18.3% – a loss of over $6 BILLION dollars in the company’s value.
And how does Target CEO Brian Cornell explain this drop?
“It’s been a very wet and cold start to the year and it’s reflected in our sales. We haven’t seen anything from a structural standpoint that gives us pause.”
If you were a Target shareholder, would that do it for you?
With all due respect to Mr. Cornell, I’m sort of guessing that there is an element of cause and effect here. Agree or disagree? Your call.

here is a commentary on the trans bathroom saga that I thought was well written, It also involves a large corp. that doesn’t seem to get it.
