WHY HILLARY IS GOING DOWN THE TUBES

Ken Berwitz

Victor Davis Hanson, writing for pjmedia.com, has given us a very worthwhile analysis of why Hillary Clinton\’s campaign is in its current sorry shape.

Here are the first two paragraphs:

Hillary Clinton may yet win the Democratic nomination-if sheis not indicted. After all, it is hard for a New England spread-the-wealthsocialist like rival Bernie Sanders to appeal to working-class southern whites, minorities, or the wealthy Democratic establishment. It is still likely thatthe Democratic Party will find a way to aid an ailing and scandal-plagued Mrs.Clinton, rather than turn over its future to a 74-year-old scold, who for mostof his voting life was not a Democrat and whose redistributionist agendas andWoodstock fables about the 1960s make Obama seem centrist in comparison.

All that said, Mrs. Clinton\’s campaign rhetoric is coming upempty-largely because it is at odds with the way she has lived her life andconducted her various careers over the last two decades. Voters, even youngerones, are now sorely aware of those flagrant contradictions.

Well said!

However, Mr. Hanson is on shakier ground at the end, when he suggests that Ms. Clinton cannot win:

Hillary Clinton\’s campaign is headed down a dead-end street. There are no way-outs through decrying the treatment of women and the balefulinfluence of Wall Street, calling for fair enforcement of laws, referring toeither the sad or great state of Obama\’s economy and foreign policy, or voicingthe populist concern for indebted students and losers in today\’s calcifiedeconomy.

Hoping that Bill Clinton fades out or that Obama\’s popularityhits 55% or that the FBI and Justice Department are as politicized as Obama\’sChicago-style IRS, ICE, or EPA is not a winning way to the White House.

The sad reality is that, if Hillary Clinton prevails in spite of her monumental flaws as a candidate, and Republicans put up a cartoon on legs like Donald Trump or a take-no-prisoners bible thumper like Ted Cruz, she very much can win.

Will we, as a country, actually do this to ourselves?
