Ken Berwitz
Today\’s quote comes to us from Josh Green, who writes for bloomberg.com.
Here is what he said about the speeches Hillary Clinton made before Goldman Sachs…..and is desperately trying to withhold from us:
“I talked to a CEO ofa financial firm who sat through one of her paid speeches in 2014and said actually the speech itself was just about important decisions she hadto make to make as Secretary of State, a lot of it promoting women, nothingcontroversial. What would be problematic, he said, for her, was that in herintroductory remarks she lavishedpraised on Wall Street, said you guys are the pillar of our economy. Theirony, the CEO said, is this is a crowd of Romney voters who would never votefor Hillary Clinton and it was empty flattery that wasn\’t going to advance hercause with that crowd.”
Josh Green wins Quote Of The Day honors for bringing this to our attention.
Now let me bring something to his (though I\’m sure he doesn\’t need me to do so): If a tape surfaces with Hillary Clinton saying those words, or anything like them, her campaign would be, in less-than-delicate vernacular, deader than Kelsey\’s nuts*.
And, no matter how secure Ms. Clinton thinks the content of her speeches to groups of high-powered financial executives are, I\’d bet MY Kelseys that such a tape exists, and will at some opportune time, surface.
Anyone still think Hillary Clinton\’s presidency is inevitable?
How about you, Mr. Vice President?

*Before Madeleine Albright and Gloria Steinem accuse me of gender insensitivity, allow me to point out that the term “dead as Kelsey\’s nuts” – which, I admit, has obviously evolved quite a bit, started as a reference to the extremely tight nuts and bolts on the wooden car wheels of the Kelsey Wheel Company, owned by John Kelsey, which were popular in the early 1900\’s. In fact, the company, now called Kelsey-Hayes, still exists…though it\’s been quite a while since its products were made of wood. And, for you Hillary detractors, there is no truth to the rumor that a young Hillary Rodham dated Mr. Kelsey in high school. She\’s not THAT old (or maybe it\’s that Kelsey didn\’t go to high school. I keep forgetting which).
