ANOTHER REASON TO BEWARE OF AI “INFORMATION”

How many of these examples do we need, to understand that AI information should not be taken at face value?

I went to yahoo.com and asked “How do Voter ID laws affect voter turnout?”.  Here is what AI told me – every word of it:

Voter ID laws can significantly impact voter turnout, often reducing participation among certain groups.

Effects on Turnout

    • Studies indicate that voter ID laws, particularly in states like Kansas and Tennessee, have led to notable decreases in voter turnout, especially among young and newly registered voters.
    • Evidence suggests that these laws may disproportionately affect minority and low-income voters, who are less likely to possess the required identification.

Mixed Evidence

    • While some research shows a clear negative impact on turnout, other studies present mixed results, indicating that the effects might vary depending on the state and the specific law implemented.
    • Some scholars argue that the presence of voter ID laws could mobilize affected populations to vote, countering the expected turnout suppression.

Conclusion
Overall, while the intention behind voter ID laws is often to prevent fraud, their actual impact tends to create barriers that can lower voter turnout, particularly among vulnerable populations.

Got that?  The one and only reference to a Voter ID requirement preventing voter fraud – obviously, the key purpose of Voter ID –  a) is at the very end of the answer, and b) is mentioned only to claim that its actual result is to lower the number of legal voters.

Is that your understanding of what Voter ID is about/what it does?  If so, I guess AI worked like a charm for you.  If it is not, however, I guess you and I both have problems with AI’s reliability.
