Iran’s most senior clerics have called for the assassinations of President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring the leaders mahdour al-dam — or deserving of death.
The 88-member Assembly of Experts issued a 10-point statement in which they said killing “the wicked prime minister of the Zionist regime” and “the criminal American president” was a religious duty that must be carried out “under any circumstances.”
The clerics — who are constitutionally tasked with choosing and supervising the supreme leader — wrote that the call for their assassinations that avenging the death of supreme leader Ali Khamenei was of “paramount” importance.
“It is obligatory upon any duty-bound person who gains access to these criminals to send them to hell,” they wrote.
Meanwhile, Iranian newspaper Hamshahri ran a front-page story featuring Trump’s face in the crosshairs of a rifle scope with a banner headline reading “Revenge is certain.”
This is who President Trump tells us he is progressing with to make a deal? Does he think we are idiots?
There is no deal. There can be no deal. We do not even know who really is in charge of Iran to make a deal. But whether it is the IRGC, the “supreme leader”, or some other individual or group, the one thing they have in common is that they cannot be trusted in any way to do anything that would benefit anyone/anything but themselves. They have spent decades proving this by lying to everyone about everything.
There is not, and cannot be, any “successful” negotiation with liars. All that can be done, short of putting our boots on the ground (which I fervently hope we do not do), is to blow up their military assets, render them as militarily helpless as possible, and hope that Iran’s general population (most of whom, it seems clear, hate these murderers as much as we do) will finally remove the murderous mullahs and re-establish sane government there.
