Today’s quote comes to us from the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
This week, his Labour Party suffered a huge defeat in local elections, with Nigel Farage’s right wing Reform UK party far and away the main beneficiary.
Not at all surprisingly, many Labour leaders are now demanding that Starmer resign.
Here, from Katy Harris’s article for London’s Express, is his response:
“I’m not going to walk away from this; that would plunge the country into chaos. But that doesn’t mean we don’t need to respond. It doesn’t mean we don’t need to rebuild. It doesn’t mean that we don’t need to set out the path ahead. That’s what I’m going to do in the coming days.”
Huh? This is supposed to be an answer?
If the next edition of Merriam-Webster’s dictionary needs an exemplary quote for its definition of the word “blather”, it need look no further than what you just read.
I award Quote Of The Day “honors” to Keir Starmer, for reacting to his party’s disastrous election results by barfing out a meaningless word salad, apropos of nothing.
Simply stated, Starmer appears to be far more of an asset to Reform UK than he is to Labour.
I wonder how much longer he can hold onto power. I can’t see it being very much longer.
