Today’s quote comes to us from what is left of Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Here, from Schumer’s comments on Monday is Schumer’s latest attempt to convince the public that Voter ID – i.e. the requirement that voters show they are who they say they are – is evil and racist.
This attempt is in the form of condemning the Republican SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act, which would require that voters provide ID and proof of citizenship.
Schumer’s reaction – first in the form of a tweet on X…
“The SAVE Act is nothing more than Jim Crow 2.0. It would disenfranchise millions of Americans. Every single Senate Democrat will vote against any bill that contains it. Speaker Johnson should tell SAVE Act Republicans to stand down or else this shutdown will be on them.”
…and then by voice:
“I have said it before and I’ll say it again, the SAVE Act would impose Jim Crow type laws to the entire country and is dead on arrival in the Senate. “It is a poison pill that will kill any legislation that it is attached to. If House Republicans add the SAVE Act to the bipartisan appropriations package it will lead to another prolonged Trump government shutdown.”
That so, Chuck:
Then why is it that every national poll shows that a vast majority of voters – including Democrat voters and Black voters – supports Voter ID?
Even Democrat-friendly CNN’s poll guru, Harry Enten, admits as much – based on poll after poll after poll.
From Tim Hains’ article for Real Clear Politics:
HARRY ENTEN, CNN CHIEF DATA ANALYST: On showing a photo I.D. to vote, the American people are with Nicki Minaj. What are we talking about here? So, take a look here.
(Enten puts up a screen shot of the poll)
“Favor voter I.D. to vote.” Look, I’ve got all this polling on the screen going back since 2018. You’ll notice on all of it, it’s all north of 75 percent, 76 percent (2018), 76 percent (2021), 76 percent (2023), 81 percent (2024), and then 83 percent (2025) in the last year of Americans agree with Nicki Minaj, they favor photo I.D. to be able to vote.
JOHN BERMAN, CNN: What about by party? What’s the party breakdown?
ENTEN: Yes, normally you might expect, hey, there’d be a big divide by party with Republicans really for it and Democrats really against it. But not really here. I mean just take a look here, favor photo I.D. to vote. You’ve got 95 percent of Republicans, pretty much all of them, but even 71 percent of Democrats favor photo I.D. to vote.
So again, Nicki Minaj posted that on X. And what you see is, is that the American people — actually it’s not really all that controversial. The American people are with Nicki Minaj, whether they are Republican or even if they are Democrats. We’re talking about seven in ten Democrats agreeing with Nicki Minaj that you, in fact, should show a voter photo I.D. to vote.
BERMAN: What’s the racial breakdown?
ENTEN: OK, what’s the racial breakdown on this, right, because I think a lot of people make the argument that people of color, nonwhite Americans, have a harder time procuring a photo I.D. to vote. But even here, take a look here, favor photo I.D. to vote. 85 percent of White people favor it. 82 percent of Latinos. 76 percent of Black Americans favor it.
So, the bottom line is this, voter I.D. is not controversial in this country. A photo I.D. to vote is not controversial in this country. It is not controversial by party, and it is not controversial by race. The vast majority of Americans agree with Nicki Minaj that, in fact, you should have a photo I.D. to be able to vote.
Bottom line? Everyone wants Voter ID. Everyone except Schumer and his sycophant Democrat cohorts.
You have to ask: WHY?????
What reason could there possibly be…other than that Democrats favor – maybe the word is need – lower (read that easier to get past/cheat on) voter requirements.
I award Chuck Schumer Quote Of the Day (dishonors) for making this so completely obvious.
I hope every citizen who cares about honest elections takes notice.
