“GOOD” RACISM, MINNEAPOLIS-STYLE

“Good racism”:  racism that is practiced by left wing politicians who think it makes things better for minorities; who think you can solve racism by creating more of it.

mary moriarty is the Hennepin (Minneapolis) County Attorney.

On paper, moriarty is in charge of dispensing justice fairly to all.   Except she has no intention of doing so.  And she says to your face.  The reason?  She is an ardent believer in “good racism”.

From Steve Karnowski’s article for the Associated Press (the bold print is mine):

The U.S. Department of Justice has opened an investigation of the prosecutor’s office in Minnesota’s most populous county after its leader directed her staff to consider racial disparities as one factor when negotiating plea deals.

Harmeet Dhillon, a Republican lawyer who’s the new director of the agency’s Civil Rights Division, announced the investigation in a social media post Saturday night.

Dhillon posted a letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi to Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, dated Friday. It said the investigation would focus on whether Moriarty’s office “engages in the illegal consideration of race in its prosecutorial decision-making.”

The letter, released to The Associated Press by the Justice Department on Monday, said the investigation was triggered by a new policy adopted by the county attorney that has come under conservative fire in recent weeks.

That policy, which was leaked to local media last month, says racial disparities harm the community, so prosecutors should consider the “whole person, including their racial identity and age,” as part of their overall analysis.

Moriarty’s office got the Justice Department letter via email on Monday, the county attorney’s spokesperson, Daniel Borgertpoepping, said in a statement.

“Our office will cooperate with any resulting investigation and we’re fully confident our policy complies with the law,” he said.

The clear impression this leaves, at least to me?  moriarty has decided that, since Black Minneapolis residents commit a disproportionate amount of crime, and that doesn’t look good for Black people, let’s even things out by not prosecuting them as much or as harshly as people from other races.

Does this make any sense?  Well, let’s take a look at just one indicator:  homicides.  Here are the data for Minnesota in recent years, drawn from Bill Glahn’s article for americanexperiment.org (crime data specifically for Minneapolis is almost impossible for me to find, other than general references that it is higher than average):

In 2020, there were 175 murder victims of whom the race of the victim is known. Of that known total, it was established that 61 percent of the victims (107) were African-American. Keep in mind that African-Americans make up less than 10 percent of Minnesota’s total population.

In 2021, there were 188 murder victims of whom the race is known. Of that total, 65 percent (123) were African-American.

In 2022, there were 177 murder victims of whom the race is known. Of that total, 55 percent (98) were African-American.

The demographics of offenders roughly matches that of the victims of murder in Minnesota.

In 2020, there were 189 perpetrators of murder for whom a race was identified. Keep in mind that a single murder can be perpetrated by more than one offender, and that not all murders are solved. Of that total, 66 percent of offenders (125) were identified as being African-American.

In 2021, there were 275 perpetrators of murder identified by race. Of that known total, 76 percent (209) were identified as African-American.

In 2022, there were 244 perpetrators of murder identified by race. Of that total, 72 percent (175) were identified as African-American.

What do we see here?  We see that a far higher percentage of people who commit murder are Black…and we see that a far higher percentage of murder victims are Black as well.  That pretty clearly suggests that Blacks who murder people mostly murder other Blacks.

So this tells us that the more mary moriarty eases up on punishment for Black people who commit murder, the more she will be endangering Black people as victims of murder.  And it is an excellent bet that the same kinds of percentages, thus the same results, will be true for other crimes, including other violent crimes, as well.

Does this make any sense to you?  Does this make things equitable for the citizens of Minneapolis?  Does it make life better, safer, for the Black people in Minneapolis?

The answer is an emphatic no.

And this is before we talk about moriarty also being the genius who is letting dylan adams, the serial felon who was caught on camera damaging a half dozen privately owned Teslas, off the hook (no charges will be filed against him).

I hope the Department of Justice investigates mary moriarty quickly and fully, then makes the results of its investigation public, so the city of Minneapolis understands what a disaster it was to put her in office.

Will this change anything?  Maybe.  But, then again, we have to take into account the fact that Minnesota – with a major boost from heavily Democrat Minneapolis – is the same place that elected Tim Walz its Governor.  Twice.

I can only hope the folks in that state and that city have learned their lesson.  But I would lie to say I am confident.
