PERPETUATING THE “IT’S A HOAX” LIE

Joe Scarborough, during his monologue on “Morning Joe” today, was nice enough to perpetuate the claim that President Trump called COVID-19 “a hoax”.

As this blog has pointed out several times for well over a month, that is a lie.  And an easily checked one, for anyone interested in the truth instead of Trump hatred.

Here is what he actually said:

Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. Coronavirus. They’re politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs, you say, “How’s President Trump doing?” They go, “Oh, not good, not good.” They have no clue; they don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa. They can’t count their votes!

One of my people came up to me and said, “Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia. That didn’t work out too well. They couldn’t do it. They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything, they tried it over and over. They’ve been doing it since you got in. It’s all turning, they lost, it’s all turning. Think of it. And this is their new hoax.”

As you can see, Trump did not call COVID-19 a hoax, he called Democrat claims that he wasn’t handling the crisis well a hoax.  That is plain as day…unless you want it not to be, in which case it doesn’t matter what reality is, does it?

This is right up there with the lie that he called nazis and White supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia “very fine people”.  He did no such thing as the transcript of his actual commentary proves.  But it hasn’t stopped a great many media people – who clearly do not give a damn about the truth – from saying he did.

What sad, pitiful people they are.

  • The more people see of him, the more they like him. The usual pattern is: Trump says something perfectly sensible, the media lie about it, then voters find out the truth and like him more and the media less.
