In August, much of Gaza was decimated, as Israel – after years of ongoing rocket and missile attacks from Gaza – bombed wherever the rockets, missiles, etc, were being fired from, and destroyed as many “terror tunnels” (i.e. tunnels from Gaza into Israel for the purpose of bringing in weaponry and launching attacks) as they could find.
At least 34 such tunnels were obliterated, with an unknown number still in operation.
Excerpted from Hillel Fendel\’s article at israelnationalnews.com:
Thedestruction of the widespread Hamas tunnel network was considered amajor Israeli achievement of the recent war in Gaza, but the Hamasweekly newspaper Al-Risalahreports that Hamas continues digging tunnels from Gaza into Israel.
Areporter for Al-Risalahclaims to have visited an “offensive tunnel” – a term referringto an underground conduit planned to be used in an attack againstIsrael. Hamas has attacked Israel via tunnels of this nature in thepast, either by sending armed terrorists into Israel to targetIsraelis, or – as in the famous case of Gilad Shalit – by capturinga soldier nearby and abducting him into Gaza.
Thetunnel purportedly visited by the reporter was destroyed by Israelduring the recent war, but is now apparently being restored by Hamas, dozens of meters underground.
TheAl-Risalahreport confirms other evidence that Israel\’s successful detection anddestruction of terrorist tunnels during Operation Protective Edge ison the brink of coming undone. Last month, for instance, Hamasconfirmed that one of its members waskilled while helping to dig a tunnel.
Therecent revelation comes after a senior IDF commander of the GazaDivision engineering unit last week assessed that notall Hamas terror tunnels were destroyed, confirming earlier Hamasstatements which bragged that not all of the group\’s tunnels weredestroyed.
Regardlessof that, and the fact that humanitarian materials were siphoned byHamas to build the tunnels in the first place, Israelbegan transportingmore construction materials into Gaza last Tuesday as a”humanitarian gesture,” including 600 tons of cement,50 truckloads of aggregate and 10 truckloads of steel.
Theworld has likewise turned a blind-eye to the overwhelmingevidence of renewed tunnel construction, with world stateslast Sunday pledging $5.4billion for Gaza at a Cairo donor conference.
To review: The world, which sat by and watched as Gaza continually attacked Israel, then (with some, but far too few exceptions) condemned Israel for doing something about it, is now funding Gaza\’s next attempts to attack Israel.
And, all the while, demanding that Israel make peace with Gaza.
This “logic” gives insanity a bad name. And shames every country which hands even one red cent to Gaza without an ironclad guarantee it will be used for peaceful purposes.
Why is Israel transporting construction materials into Gaza? Is Israel carefully monitoring where said materials are being taken and what purpose they are being used for – and gathering proof to show the international community (as if it gives a damn about Israel)? I can\’t say I know for sure….but I can\’t imagine otherwise.
Oh, one more thing: did I mention that the Obama administration has quietly (quiet only because most mainstream media are not reporting it) pledged $200 million to Gaza?
January 20, 2017 cannot come fast enough.
