DONALD TRUMP AND MEDIA PARTISANSHIP/HYPOCRISY

Syndicated columnist David Limbaugh, like me and many others, is up to here with media’s obvious partisanship and hypocrisy when it comes to President Trump – very much including their seemingly limitless capacity to look the other way on behalf of his political opponents.

Here, excerpted from his latest commentary, is some of Mr. Limbaugh’s reasoning:

Ahead of the (infrastructure) meeting, Pelosi and five investigative committee leaders spoke with other Democrats who had called for an impeachment inquiry. Afterward, she made an unsolicited public statement.

“We do believe it’s important to follow the facts,” she told reporters. “We believe that no one is above the law, including the president of the United States, and we believe that the president of the United States is engaged in a cover-up.”

And she feigns outrage that Trump cut the meeting short?

Democrats and the liberal media ceaselessly complain about Trump’s demeanor and manners, yet they treat him like a twice-removed criminal stepchild. Why don’t more people talk about their ill-mannered behavior and incivility? Or are they entitled to a pass for any level of abuse toward Trump because they have so consummately dehumanized him among their base? It’s to the point where Trump haters consider rudeness toward him a badge of honor.

The Democrats are a one-note samba. They have no positive agenda — nothing constructive in their arsenal. They have staked their entire political fortune on destroying, discrediting and removing Trump, and, having failed at every turn, they are in denial. They will not give up the ghost.

I wish David Limbaugh had some of this wrong.  I wish that Democrats, despite their differences with President Trump, were sincerely interested in working with him to better the country.

But, lamentably, Mr. Limbaugh has none of this wrong.  What have Democrats done since Donald Trump became President?  What have they offered that would be beneficial to the country?  Where are their proposals to better the lives of our citizens?

-Every day we hear the personal attacks.

-Every day we hear about subpoenas related to the exact same collusion and obstruction that robert mueller and an all-Democrat team spent two years and something like $35 million dollars looking for and could not find.

-Every day we hear about Trump attempting a cover-up.  Of what?  Nobody says, because – personal attacks aside – he has not been charged with any wrongdoing.

-Every day we hear demands for impeachment.  For what?  Nobody says, because – personal attacks aside – he has not been accused of any impeachable offense.

But when do we hear about something – anything – that moves the country forward?

The good news for Democrats is that, for their hardline base, this will never get old.  They love every second of it and clamor for more.

The bad news for Democrats is that it doesn’t matter. The love affair their hardline base has for trashing Trump doesn’t gain them any votes; with minimal exceptions, these people, by definition, will never vote Republican anyway.

But how does it play with independents?  The so-called swing voters, who might vote for either party and who, therefore, are key to winning and losing elections?

What happens next year, when President Trump reminds them that, while he was lowering unemployment, getting NATO members to finally pay their fair share and renegotiating NAFTA, they were doing nothing but trying to end his presidency?  How do you think they will react to that message?

As long as Democrats continue to obsess on attacking and removing President Trump, they put themselves in a self-inflicted stranglehold.

I hope they’ll be happy with the results it yields.  I have a feeling Mr. Trump and his Republican cohorts will be.
