THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote, and it is a beauty, comes to us from ismail haniya, hamas\’s former Prime Minister, who – brave, courageous Gazan that he is, has just came out of hiding now that the cease-fire is in effect.

Here, in front of a cheering crowd of 10,000 celebrants, is what haniya said about the just-ended (more likely, just-suspended-until-hamas-rearms) conflict with Israel:

“Thiswar was unprecedented. Words can\’t describe this victory.”

Yep.  Who can argue with that?

What words could possibly describe a “victory” consisting – according to estimates reported in the New York Times – of over 2,100 dead, 10,800 buildings demolished, 50,000 others damaged, and the destruction of most or all of the terror tunnels built to transport arms and terrorists through — not to mention the opportunity it gave Israel to field-test its Iron Dome defense system and refine/improve it based on real war conditions.

I award ismail  haniya Quote Of The Day honors, for what may well be the most inadvertently accurate statement emanating from this conflict..

Way to go, ismail.  May all hamas\’s “victories” be just as indescribable.
