SOFTLY AS OUR ECONOMIC GROWTH LEAVES US

Softly, I will leave you softly
For my heart would break if you should wake and see me go

Those lyrics are from the terrific love (or, more exactly, end of love) song, “Softly As I Leave You”.  It was recorded by Frank Sinatra in June, 1964, a half century ago.

I bet Frank did not have an inkling that he could as easily have been singing about the media coverage of our economic growth in 2014.

Did you know that, yesterday, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported it had revised yearly economic growth estimates down to about 1.5% for the year?

But that, of course, would not stop the Obama administration from continuing to try and con the country into believing our economy is in better shape than it is.

As the Associated Press reports, “The new assessment was considerably more pessimistic than the Obama administration\’s, which predicted last month that the economy would expand by 2.6 percent this year even though it contracted by an annual rate of 2.1 percent in the first quarter.”

Barack Obama lies to us about job creation (because he only counts jobs gained. he leaves out, among other things, how many part time jobs have replaced full-time jobs).  He lies to us about halving the national deficit (he\’s halving his own increase; the deficit in every year of the Obama administration has been higher than the largest one we had under Bush).  He doesn\’t bother to talk about the devastating percentages of Black unemployment (Why should I bother doing a thing for them?  I own their votes anyway).  He lies to us so much about the economy (and just about everything else) that it is a surprise when he tells the truth about anything.

I mentioned earlier that the CBO estimates were reported by the Associated Press.  That means virtually every media venue in this country has the information.

So where is it?  This is our economy, and the growth is half what we were told it would be.  Is that not lead story news?

Well, it isn\’t.  And it won\’t be.

Reporting-wise, half our growth just left.  Softly.  Barack Obama\’s Accomplice Media\’s heart would break if you were to wake and see it go.

So, though this disastrous news will be there in some form or fashion, it will be underplayed, then dropped from sight ASAP.

We can\’t be informing the public about how bad the economy is in a midterm election year, can we?  Heck, people might actually take it into consideration when they vote.
