THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from a surprising – maybe even amazing – source.

First I\’ll show you the quote:

“ISIShas taken it to a new level, the terrorist group, well funded, wellorganized, taking over banks, taking over a dam, grabbing resources, well armed.

“In retaliation of the airstrikes they have beheaded anAmerican journalist, James Foley, who was kidnapped in November of2012 in Syria. The video put on YouTube, out in the desert, they cuthis head off. Weshould cut their goddamned head off. That\’show I feel about it.

“Do I think we should put troops on the ground? No. Weshould have round-the-clock airstrikes against this terrorist group.Thathas to be the reaction. If this doesn\’t inflame the hearts and thepassion of the American people, I don\’t know what will.

“Wedon\’t have to fight the war or this conflict the way ISIS wants usto. We can fight it on our own terms and we can absolutely wipe themout with consistent, minute by minute airstrikes and innocent peopleare going to die. It\’s unfortunate. An innocent American had his headcut off.

“Therehas to be a strong, swift response, total retaliation, until thisISIS group is wiped out. Thisshould erase any doubt any American has about the seriousness of thissituation.

“Maliki was the wrong guy. He helped prop up ISIS with hisexclusive government and now radicals have come in and they have putthe United States in an untenable position. But if this country isgoing to allow Americans to have their heads cut off around theworld, then what is our morality check?”

Other than the fact that he forgot to mention that we also should be arming the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters to the teeth, because their boots will be on the ground instead of ours, I agree with every word.

And who said it?

Brace yourself:  It was Ed Schultz.  That\’s right, MSNBC\’s own Ed Schultz.

I award Mr. Schultz Quote Of The Day honors for, in this particular case, seeing things so clearly.  I only wish he would do so more often – and that a few of his fellow show hosts on MSNBC would do so at all.
