A TOUR OF AIRPORT SECURITY – FOR SOMALIS ONLY????

Please be advised that this is not satire.

From Scott Johnson’s piece at powerlineblog.com:

Last week I wrote about the 2016 edition of the annual Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport tour conducted for Somalis only by officers of Customs and Border Protection in the Department of Homeland Security. The tour gives local Somali Muslim community leaders a behind the scenes look at security and processing at the airport.

An exclusive tour of homeland security procedures for Somalis only?

Not surprisingly, Mr. Johnson was more than a little interested in this fact.  So he contacted Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and inquired about this.  The response he got, from someone named Kris Grogan, that:

Every year CBP conducts numerous events and programs around the country in which civic, religious and community leaders, as well as interested residents, are afforded an inside look at how CBP secures the border at and between ports of entries. CBP is committed to fostering a positive relationship within the communities we live and serve.

Johnson wrote back, asking:

Can you tell me what other groups receive annual tours of the secure areas at MSP Airport such as this one? How can I get myself invited?

He has yet to receive an answer.

Am I the only one, other than Mr. Johnson, who would like an answer to that question – and, if none is forthcoming, why not?

I doubt it.
