Yesterday, Tom Perez, whom Democrats recently elected their Democratic National Committee Chairperson, said this to a thrilled audience of likeminded party members:
Speaking of proposed changes in ObamaCare: “Those Republican leaders and President Trump don’t give a shit about the people they were trying to hurt”
Speaking of the budget: “They call it a skinny budget. I call it a shitty budget”
I just googled “Tom Perez Republicans don’t give a shit”, and looked at the first three full pages. Not one hit for CBS. Or NBC. Or ABC. Or the New York Times. Or the Washington Post. Or any other major mainstream media venue.
Do you think these same “neutral” folks would have accorded RNC Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel the same anonymity if she had said that about Democrats?
As an indicator, consider what happened when Kellyanne Conway used the term “alternative facts”.
Here are her exact words, spoken to NBC’s resident flyweight host of Meet The Press, Chuck Todd, after Todd accused Trump Press Secretary Sean Spicer of stating a falsehood:
“Don’t be so overdramatic about it, Chuck. You’re saying it’s a falsehood and they’re giving Sean Spicer, our press secretary, gave alternative facts to that”.
Clearly, in context, Conway’s point was that Spicer has an alternative take on facts than Todd has. But the “alternative facts” comment blew up all over mainstream meda for a solid week, and now is firmly entrenched as “proof” that Kellyanne Conway is a fool – which she is anything but.
Was Ms. Conway’s answer clumsily worded? Yes. But, as most people should be aware by now, mainstream media view clumsy wording by Democrats as forgivable whoopsies, and clumsy wording by Republicans as a major story.
And, for the same reason – overt partisanship – mainstream media are looking the other way at Tom Perez’s disgustingly offensive comments – which could not possibly be interpreted in any alternative way.
I’ve said this many times in the past, but it bears repeating now: it is overtly partisan crap like this that won Donald Trump the presidential election.
And as you can see, the media, whose partisan crap was so material in handing it to him, still have not learned a thing.
Wow.
