How does Donald Trump do it? How does he wind up the lead story on the night President Obama speaks at the Democrats’ national convention?
You may or may not like Mr. Trump. But can we concede he has a genius for co-opting the spotlight?
Here is what has moved everything else to the side, as excerpted from Jeremy Diamond and Stephen Collinson’s article for CNN (and wait until you see how they spin it on behalf of Hillary Clinton!):
Donald Trump appeared to call on Russian intelligence agencies Wednesday to find 30,000 of Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails, adding a stunning twist to the uproar over Moscow’s alleged intervention in the presidential election.
So what do we have here – for real, not a media-invented drama?
We have Donald Trump flipping off a comment that he hopes Russia has the emails Hillary Clinton claims she permanently deleted, because “you’d see some beauties there” – i.e. he does not believe Ms. Clinton’s claim that they were 100% personal.
Read his words, then read them again. You will see that, even if he were being serious – which he obviously was not – Trump was not asking Russia to hack Clinton’s emails, he was speculating that Russia ALREADY hacked the emails.
Then we get to the fact that, if Hillary Clinton is telling the truth, this is entirely academic. Why? Because:
-If the emails have been permanently deleted, Russia could not hack them;
-And if Russia did, all it would find is stuff about her yoga classes and Chelsea’s bridal shower.
But we’re talking CNN here.
So instead of reporting that the only way Russia could do this is if Hillary Clinton has been lying to us, (and maybe pointing out that it would be in keeping with her lies about every other part of the email story so far), Diamond and Collinson magically, mystically transform this into Trump asking Russia to hack our foreign policy secrets.
In other words, it is exactly the kind of dishonest license we have come to expect from media, on behalf of Queen Hillary.
And, to say the least, CNN is not the only one: this “Trump” wants Russia to hack us” meme has immediately been picked up by a huge number of other media venues as well.
Democrats, of course, are loving it. They are using it as a diversion to make us forget the ugly mess their convention has become, and claiming Trump is supporting international espionage against the United States.
Sure, guys, that’s what it is. And Snoop Dogg has decided to ditch rap and pursue a career in Italian Opera.
Anyone who thinks Donald Trump – or any other Republican – would ever get a fair shake against Hillary Clinton from today’s mainstream media, is living in a dream world.

Ken, It is even bigger than that. He got the Clinton campaign to admit the emails contain national security information. Her own spokesman said it.
