Do you remember Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA)?
Johnson is the congressperson who actually told a military commander he feared that if too many military personnel were deployed to the island of Guam “the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize“? (Yes, so help me God, he really said that. Click here and see/hear for yourself).
Well, in addition to being an idiot, Johnson is also an avid Israel-hater; something that is hardly uncommon within today’s Democrat Party.
Here is his latest foray into this hatred, voiced just yesterday at the Democrats’ national convention and reported by Adam Kredo of Washington Free Beacon:
Rep. Hank Johnson (D., Ga.), a Democratic superdelegate pledged to Clinton, likened Jewish citizens living in disputed areas of Israel and the Palestinian territories to “termites” that destroy homes. His comments came during an event on the sidelines of the Democratic National Convention hosted by the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, an anti-Israel organization that supports boycotts of the Jewish state.
Johnson, who also claimed that “Jewish people” were stealing Palestinian homes, apologized multiple times for his remarks after the Free Beacon report sparked outrage in the Jewish community and elsewhere.
“There has been a steady [stream], almost like termites can get into a residence and eat before you know that you’ve been eaten up and you fall in on yourself, there has been settlement activity that has marched forward with impunity and at an ever increasing rate to the point where it has become alarming,” Johnson said Monday.
Johnson eventually apologized on Twitter, saying that he used a “poor choice of words.” However, he doubled down on his criticism of Israeli settlers, who he said “undermine [the] two-state solution.”
Johnson somehow did not get around to suggesting that the hamas charter, which calls, in writing, for the obliteration of all Israel – every square inch of it – and the death of all Jews – Israeli and non-Israeli both – might have something to do with there not being a two-state solution. But, hey, why let facts and logic get in the way of a good Israel/Jew hating rant.
Does surprise you that the same voters who elected this idiot also elected his predecessor, cynthia mckinney, who leaves Johnson in the dust when it comes to anti-Semitism? Evidently they like their congresspeople this way.
And does it surprise you that mainstream media, which leap at the chance to nail Republicans for comments which could be seen as offensive/intolerant, has virtually ignored this story?
Yes, media bias remains alive and well….even when a comment like this is made.
Pathetic.
