THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg….only after just about everyone across the political spectrum, from left to right, reamed her for the astoundingly foolish, intemperate personal attacks she launched against the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

Now, stung by the harsh criticism from even some of her most ardent admirers, she is singing a diffeent tune:

“On reflection, my recent remarks in response to press inquiries were ill-advised and I regret making them.

“Judges should avoid commenting on a candidate for public office. In the future I will be more circumspect.”

Some media people are calling this an apology.  That’s a load of BS.  There isn’t any.  All she said was that:

-her “remarks” (not personal insults), were:

-“ill-advised” (she shouldn’t have said them – no suggestion that she didn’t mean every word), and that she should be

-“more circumspect” (definition:  cautious in the face of possible danger…i.e. she should be careful because there might be negative consequences – for her, as in self-preservation).

That’s an apology?  Only in a Ginsburg supporters dreams.

I award Ruth Bader Ginsburg Quote Of The Day “honors” for, in trying to shut down the firestorm her own words created, instead providing another reason to hope that, preferably, through a resignation – this time with a real apology – she is off the bench as soon as possible.
