FREE SPEECH, AND SCIENCE, IN PORTLAND

It’s a very simple concept.  If you believe one side of things, and want everyone else to believe it, just get rid of the other side.

Which leads us straight to the Portland, Oregon school system.

Excerpted from Shasta Kearns Moore’s article in the Portland Tribune:

In a move spearheaded by environmentalists, the Portland Public Schools board unanimously approved a resolution aimed at eliminating doubt of climate change and its causes in schools.

“It is unacceptable that we have textbooks in our schools that spread doubt about the human causes and urgency of the crisis,” said Lincoln High School student Gaby Lemieux in board testimony. “Climate education is not a niche or a specialization, it is the minimum requirement for my generation to be successful in our changing world.”

The resolution passed Tuesday evening calls for the school district to get rid of textbooks or other materials that cast doubt on whether climate change is occurring and that the activity of human beings is responsible. The resolution also directs the superintendent and staff to develop an implementation plan for “curriculum and educational opportunities that address climate change and climate justice in all Portland Public Schools.”

Voila!  Mission accomplished!  Now there wan’t be any of those messy situations where public education might have to discuss the scientists who disagree with global warming er, climate change (sorry; global warming was what it was called before the climate change people disagreed with themselves).

Now the Portland public schools are in complete harmony, because all students will think the same way.  They’ll have to think the same way, because they won’t be allowed to have any material that might cause them to think any other way.

Isn’t that wonderful?

If Stalin and Khrushchev were alive, they’d heartily approve.  Over in North Korea, kim jung-un is grinning from ear to ear, and saying “Look at what the Portland Public Schools Board learned from me”.

And let’s not forget those scientists of yesteryear, most of whom “knew” the earth was flat.  Wouldn’t it have been great if they could have simply removed any opposing opinions then?  After all, once science is settled, it’s settled.  Right?

There you go.  Progressive Portland, Oregon’s version of free speech, and science.

I wonder what they’re progressively going to ban next….

  • I know what some of you are thinking, they’ll have to rewrite the entire geology history of the world. But not too worry, with the level of education in this country now the students will never question the contradiction between the two sciences. If you can even call global climate change a science. To me it seems to be a made up way to make money.

Zeke weren’t you the one to use the term global wobble a few years back as a way to make fun of the global warmers???
