As the Obama presidency winds down, it’s interesting to note that his animus against Israel remains every bit as pronounced as it has been throughout his presidency.
Yes, he has said some of the right things, and made some shows of support – because, always the politician first – Obama recognizes US voters are strongly favorable to Israel. But wherever he can make a negative impact? No problem at all.
Here is the latest example, via excerpts from David Rosenberg’s article at israelnationalnews.com:
The Middle East Quartet, made up of the US, EU, UN, and Russia, is scheduled to release a major policy report later in coming weeks, and senior diplomats involved in its drafting have indicated that the US is taking a far harder line on Israel than in the past.
The report, which is likely to be released in late May or early June, will focus heavily on Israeli construction in Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem, senior diplomats told AP. The Quartet’s report will also take Israel to task for the demolition of illegal Arab buildings – many of which were built with the supportof the European Union.
One diplomat said the report was the Obama administration’s way of putting Israel “on notice” that its patience was wearing thin.
Other officials involved in the drafting of the document claimed the report will also criticize Israel for the legalization of some Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
News of the Quartet report comes amid leaks indicating the Obama administration is considering unprecedented moves to force Israel and the Palestinian Authority to the negotiating channel.
The middle east is exploding.
-Over a quarter million Syrians dead – in no small part because President Obama set down a “red line” to al-assad, and then did nothing when he crossed it.
-Turkey rapidly turning from democracy to an Islamic fundamentalist state.
-Iran, with a US-supported “deal” that is funding their intention to eradicate Israel from existence, making overt threats to do just that.
-Iraq with one-third of the country overrun by ISIS – disdained by Obama as a “jayvee squad”.
-Libya a lawless no-man’s land, festering with terrorists of every stripe….
And Obama is worried about whether Israel is building housing in Judea and Samaria? In Jerusalem, the country’s capital city?
If that does not demonstrate Barack Obama’s attitude toward Israel, I don’t know what does.
To my “lost tribe” friends – the Jews, and non-Jews, who support Israel but have always found a way to rationize support of Barack Obama: I await your latest rationale/explanation that this makes sense. You always come up with one, no matter how absurd it is, so why should this time be any exception.

The Middle East Quartet, made up of the US, EU, UN, and Russia
I would have thought an organization called “The Middle East Quartet” would be made up of ME countries or have at least one ME country.
looking at the list of countries US Russia EU and the UN I think about the countries that make up the UN and the EU and then we have the other two [which are part of the UN] Russia and the US, and I can’t help but think people in glass houses…
Although Israel has shown more restraint than all of them in the building of a country.
Have people forgotten history? Do they not remember what the US, Russia, most of the EU countries and many of the UN countries did to carve out there countries???
I can’t help but feel we are living in a bizarro time.
