Numerous mainstream media reports have put Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA) at or near the top of the list as a possible running mate for Joe Biden’s presidential run.
But there is a bit of a problem. Karen Bass is not just a hard-leftist, she has an undeniable history of support for fidel castro and his communist regime in Cuba.
Not only did she spend years working in Cuba (literally in the country) with the “Venceremos Brigade” – an organization that brought fidelistas from the United States to Cuba – but, when castro died, she issued a statement which started by lamenting his death, saying:
“As Cuba begins nine days of mourning, I wish to express my condolences to the Cuban people and the family of Fidel Castro. The passing of the Comandante en Jefe is a great loss to the people of Cuba…”
Oh, but now? Now that she might be put a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States? Suddenly she has had a magical, mystical epiphany.
From Graham Piro’s article for the Washington Free Beacon, we have this:
California representative and potential vice presidential pick Karen Bass (D.) said Sunday that she “absolutely” should not have made a statement mourning the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro in 2016 because she knows “an awful lot more now” about Castro’s brutality.
“I absolutely would have not put that statement out and I will tell you that after talking to my colleagues who represent the state of Florida, raised those concerns with me, lesson learned, would not do that again for sure,” Bass said during an appearance on Fox News Sunday.
Bass said that she knows “an awful lot more now” about Castro’s abuses against the Cuban people since her initial visits to the country in the 1970s and that her perspective has “developed over time.”
See, it’s not Karen Bass’s fault. She just didn’t know much about how brutal castro was and how abusively he treated his people.
I mean, after all, castro was only “Comandante en Jefe” for 56 years. How could Rep. Bass possibly realize what kind of regime he was heading in so short a period of ti…..
…I have to stop here, my fingers won’t let me continue writing something this absurd.
Tell you what: if you believe Karen Bass’s “I didn’t know” explanation, I have a bridge to sell you…along with a unicorn farm, and Jack and Jill’s pail of water.
Can Joe Biden – or, more exactly, the people around him who are covering for his obviously deep-declining cognitive capabilities – possibly be stupid enough to pick Karen Bass as his running mate?
We’ll soon find out, won’t we?
