Here, in its entirety, as pulled from John Hinderaker’s article at powerlineblog.com, is the initial Associated Press report of an ugly incident which took place in Chicago two days ago.
After you read it, I will tell you what actually happened; what the AP intentionally left out:
Chicago police say they are investigating a video circulating on social media that shows several people beating a man at a residence.
Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a news conference Wednesday that four suspects are in custody. Formal charges have not been filed.
Johnson says the victim, who has “mental health challenges,” is recovering.
Johnson calls the video “sickening,” and Police Cmdr. Kevin Duffin says the suspects made “stupid decisions.”
Officers were called to a residence on the city’s West Side Tuesday evening where they found signs of a struggle and damaged property.
Videos of the alleged incident were posted on social media. Police say it is too soon to make a determination if the attack was racially motivated.
Question: why would that last sentence raise the issue of whether this attack was racially motivated, given that there is absolutely no indication of a racial component anywhere else in the article?
Answer: because what actually happened was that four Black teenagers abducted a White special-needs teenager one of them knew, tied him up and tortured him while screaming profanity-laced attacks on White people in general and Donald Trump in particular, while demanding that he repeat their attacks.
Funny thing though: somehow the Associated Press left that out of its initial report (which it was embarrassed into revising afterwards to include a line about the inherent racism of the incident).
Do you think that if this were reversed – i.e. if four White teenagers abducted a Black special-needs teenager one of them knew, tied him up and tortured him while screaming profanity-laced attacks on Black people in general and Barack Obama in particular, while demanding that he repeat their attacks – the AP would have declined to notice the racial component?
This, folks, is why so much of the public does not trust media anymore.
Do you blame them?
