For a political party that demands transparency, Democrats sure don’t like it when the same criterion is applied to them.

Last week, the Democrat-controlled house started “impeachment proceedings” (which aren’t impeachment proceedings at all, since there has been no house vote on whether to impeach) by calling Kurt Volker, former U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine to testify before the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, and Oversight and Reform committees.

And what did Mr. Volker say?

We don’t know.  Because the hearings were conducted behind closed doors and none of the three committees has released his testimony.

Why have they hidden his testimony?  Because….well, because we don’t know why.  They’re not saying.

Republicans, for their part, are demanding that the testimony be released; let’s all know what Volker had to say.

And our mainstream media, which have engaged in a blizzard of coverage speculating (as they have over and over again over the past three years) that this may be the end of Donald Trump’s presidency?  Strangely uninterested.

Maybe this has something to do with what Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), who heard part of Volker’s testimony, had to say about it, via this tweet:

“Instead of releasing the Volker transcript, House Dems are leaking cherry picked info & keeping the public in the dark on the rest. Why hasn’t @RepAdamSchiff released the full transcript & why aren’t so many in the media demanding it? Because it’s FULL of inconvenient facts!”

And this statement:

“If we (Republicans) weren’t there last Thursday, you would have no idea of everything that Ambassador Volker said to obliterate Adam Schiff’s fairy-tale quid pro quo charge.”

And Zeldin is not the only one.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has called the withholding of Volker’s testimony an “abuse of power”, and said:

“If this continues, I will call Volker before the Senate Judiciary Committee to testify publicly to ensure the full story is told”

By demanding that Democrats make Volker’s testimony public, Republicans either are engaged in an amazing bluff – i.e. they know Volker’s testimony is damaging to President Trump, but figure that if Democrats won’t release it the public will assume it isn’t…

…or they really do want it released because Volker’s testimony supports President Trump and damages the Democrat attempt to impeach him.

Which do you think is more likely?

The bottom line here is that, in a logical world, a political party cannot scream “impeachment” from the rooftops, and then try to hide every facet of the impeachment attempt – first the identity of the so-called “whistleblowers” and, now, the impeachment-related testimony.

It would be nice if our media – our fiercely neutral media ever on the alert to get the whole story – would be moving heaven and earth to uncover this information.

I’m sure that will happen any day now. Annn-n-n-n-n-nnny day.  Probably right after they do all those interviews with Hunter Biden….
