NOTE: This blog keeps changing, because the reports keep changing. Here is the latest version:
Anthony Scaramucci has resigned from – or possibly been fired from – his position as White House Communications Chief , less than two weeks after being introduced as the holder of that position and just a few days after his profanity-laden comments about Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon.
According to John Santucci and Adam Kelsey’s article for ABC News:
Sources inside the White House told ABC News that Scaramucci offered his resignation Monday morning to newly sworn-in Chief of Staff John Kelly with a request to be redeployed as chief strategy officer at the Export-Import Bank of the United States to allow Kelly to assert his leadership inside the West Wing.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed Scaramucci’s departure in a statement after the news broke.
“Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team,” the statement reads.
John Kelly, the absolutely no-nonsense White House Chief of Staff – Mr. Priebus’s replacement – apparently was involved, but it certainly was with Mr. Trump’s approval.
What next? In this White House anything is possible, and nothing is too bizarre to discount.
Does this mean Mr. Scaramucci’s wife is coming back? Just curious….
