To the folks who either claim, or believe the claim – that those Planned Parenthood videos, made by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP),  were “heavily edited” or “doctored” (they mean different things), I have a question:

How come, in all the instances where this has been claimed – and it has been pretty much an everyday occurrence among Planned Parenthood people and their supporters – they have not shown even one specific part of any of the videos as an example?

Illustratively, you may remember that, after the Trayvon Martin incident, NBC News edited the dialogue between George Zimmerman and the police dispatcher, to make him seem like a racist.

Here is the actual transcript:

Dispatcher: Sanford Police Department.

Zimmerman: Hey we\’ve had some break-ins in my neighborhood, and there\’s a real suspicious guy, uh, it\’s Retreat View Circle, um, the best address I can give you is 111 Retreat View Circle. This guy looks like he\’s up to no good, or he\’s on drugs or something. It\’s raining and he\’s just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy is he white, black, or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black.

And here is what Zimmerman supposedly said after NBC doctored the audio to eliminate the fact that Zimmerman was answering the dispatcher\’s direct question about race:

“He looks like he\’s up to no good, he looks black.”

Supporters of Zimmerman had no problem at all playing the actual audio, because it showed that had NBC doctored it –  nor did they have any problem showing the several other instances in which NBC dishonestly reported the dialogue in a way that cast Zimmerman as a racist, even though nothing he said on that audio tape suggested as much (use the link I\’ve provided and see for yourself).

And because they didn\’t just make a claim, they used the actual audio to show how completely NBC was defrauding its viewers, NBC had to ashamedly “apologize” (sort of – there never has been a formal apology) and fire the people involved.

Why wouldn\’t Planned Parenthood be doing the same?

If Planned Parenthood can produce instances in which CMP has performed “heavy editing” or “doctoring” of its videos – and their claims suggest CMP must have performed quite a few – then why would they not be playing them for us, so we could all see and hear with our own eyes and ears, what frauds the people at CMP are?

I can think of two reasons:

1) The “editing” – which culled hours-long videos down to the parts where incriminating comments were made – did not change the meaning of anything anyone from Planned Parenthood said (NOTE:  CMP has made the entire, unedited videos available as well, so that can easily be checked), or

2) to play the parts that might show selective editing, necessitates playing what the Planned Parenthood people actually said – which might be appalling even if the CMP did do some selective editing.

Which one of those is the good one for Planned Parenthood?

Asking one more time:  why has Planned Parenthood not produced specific examples of the “heavy editing” and “doctoring” they claim took place?

And, until they do, why would you believe a word CEO Cecile Richards, or any other Planned Parenthood paid flak or supporter, says about those videos?
