THE WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS’ DINNER: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

With a nod to Farnoush Amiri’s article at Hollywood Reporter…

…here are a few pissy pithy quotes from Hasan Minhaj, who – of all people who could have been selected – was the choice to MC last night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner:Russian President Vladimir Putin give an interview focused on Russia's action in Syria.

“Welcome to the series finale of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” he began. “My name is Hasan Minhaj, or as I’ll be known in a few weeks, number 830287.”

Minhaj has been a critic of Trump throughout his 2016 campaign and within his first 100 days as president through segments on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and continued his criticism of the “liar-in-chief” during his monologue.

“We’ve got to address the elephant that’s not in the room. The leader of our country is not here. And that’s because he lives in Moscow.” He also asked, who tweets at 3 a.m.? “Donald Trump, because that’s 10 a.m. in Russia, that’s business hours.”

“Historically the president usually performs at the WHCD, but I think I speak for all of us when I say, he’s done far too much bombing this month,” he joked.

President Trump declined to attend this event.

Any doubt about why?  Or how he will respond to next year’s invitation – assuming he is invited at all?

Who will they pick as MC in 2018?  Hillary Clinton?
