THE “TRUMP-NEGATIVE” COMPETITION BETWEEN ADAM SCHIFF AND MEDIA

How different is adam schiff’s position on President Trump from that of major network news ?

Seems like a silly question, doesn’t it?  After all, major network news (not opinion, but news), by definition, takes no sides on anything.

However, if you believe the evaluations of conservative Media Research Center. the difference between adam schiff’s all-negative-all-the-time positions against President Trump are only 4% removed from our supposedly “neutral” mainstream media.

From Rich Noyes’ article at newsbusters.org, we have this:

■ Overwhelmingly Negative: MRC analysts have reviewed all coverage of President Trump and his administration on the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts since 2017. Following the beginning of the impeachment inquiry on September 24, this coverage has been even more hostile than normal: Out of 684 evaluative comments included in these broadcasts, a whopping 96 percent have been negative, vs. a meager four percent that have been positive.

(Methodology: To determine the spin of news coverage, our analysts tallied all explicitly evaluative statements about the President or his administration from either reporters, anchors or non-partisan sources such as experts or voters. Evaluations from partisan sources, as well as neutral statements, were not included

Is this true?  Can it possibly be?

Well, think about the major-network coverage you have seen.  How many segments, how many panels, can you recall that fall out in positive territory for Mr. Trump?

In answer, you might say, “to be fair, if the networks consider President Trump’s actions to be wholly or almost wholly negative, of course there will be more negative coverage about him.”

But even if the networks believe Trump is 100% in the wrong, when we are talking about news reportage – not partisan opinion, but news reportage – it is an imperative that both sides be presented.  Then the public can make up its own mind.

Can anyone seriously claim that 96%-negative coverage in any way presents both sides?  Of course not.

The bottom line?  As per usual, our mainstream news sources are not acting as neutral purveyors of information, they are acting as conduits for one side’s position, to the virtually complete exclusion of the other side.

Then they wonder why fewer and fewer people trust them?  Amazing.
