Today’s quote comes to us from singer/actor/left wing political activist Cher.
Now that President Trump has floated the idea that illegal immigrants – who, by definition have no right to be in the United States – should be sent to the cities/states where politicians declare “sanctuary” status (which has absolutely no basis in law) to show how nice/how welcoming they are, suddenly it is dawning on at least this one celebrity that this could have some serious consequences.
Here is what Cher tweeted just yesterday morning:
“I Understand Helping struggling Immigrants, but MY CITY (Los Angeles) ISNT TAKING CARE OF ITS OWN.WHAT ABOUT THE 50,000+Citizens WHO LIVE ON THE STREETS.PPL WHO LIVE BELOW POVERTY LINE,& HUNGRY? If My State Can’t Take Care of Its Own(Many Are VETS)How Can it Take Care Of More”
Translation: if you’re sending them all over, everywhere across the country, so we just get a small number of them, that’s great. We’ll show you what a big Los Angeles/California welcome looks like, and our leftward principles – regardless of the federal law – remain intact.
But if you’re only sending them to places that specifically say they’ll ignore federal law and welcome illegals, that’s another story. Then we’ll have to take a lot of them. And it will be us, not those other folks, who get stuck with the consequences. That’s not fair!!!!
I award Cher Quote Of The Day honors for expressing a very valid concern regarding what an influx of illegal aliens will do to Los Angeles in particular and California in general (I wonder if she realizes that, by doing so, she’s crossed the rubicon on this issue)…
…and an honorable mention to President Trump, whose tweet, then verbalized comment, about sending illegals to places which claim to want them, apparently evoked her “woke” realization.
