Today’s quote comes to us from CNN’s resident dimwit, Don Lemon – whose dimwittery has been rewarded with the hosting job on “CNN Tonight”.
This is Lemon’s take on the fact that jussie smollett’s claims of being beaten, abused and racially/homophobically taunted by White Trump supporters turned out to be a hoax:
“A good lawyer can get your out almost anything, right? Or reduce whatever it is that you’re going to suffer. In the court of public opinion, Jussie has lost. He’s lost the fight in the court of public opinion. And that’s where his battle is. Whether legally, if he has to go, whatever he has to serve, if it’s jail time, if he has to do probation, if he has to pay whatever, but in the court of public opinion, it matters. And he’s lost that because of how, not his fault, maybe people were, I don’t know what they were saying to him, how, maybe because of his representatives, who knows. But it was handled poorly”.
Can you figure out what this man said?
While you’re trying, let me remind you of what actually happened: jussie smollett, for whatever his reasons, invented a racial/gay-hatred incident that did not exist, and blamed it on two White, Trump-loving thugs who did not exist. That makes him a liar, and a criminal.
I would dispute the difference between what actually happened and what Don Lemon said, if I had any idea what he said. As nearly as I can determine, Lemon – after aggressively championing smollett for weeks despite having no idea of whether a word he said was true, now thinks the biggie is not that he lied and may be charged, convicted and punished, but that he’s lost “in the court of public opinion”, whatever in God’s green earth that means.
I therefore award Don Lemon Quote Of The Day “honors”, for a statement which may well set a new record for unintelligible gobbledegookery.
No wonder CNN gave him his own show…
