Today’s quote comes to us from Chris Cuomo, one of the angrier of CNN’s dutifully Democrat/left show hosts.
Mr. Cuomo is miffed that robert mueller – who no one in his or her right mind will ever accuse of pro-Trump bias – debunked the buzzfeed.com claim that he is in possession of evidence that President Trump explicitly told Michael Cohen to lie to congress.
Here is what Cuomo has to say about it:
“Mueller didn’t do the media any favors tonight, and he did do the president one, because as you saw with Rudy Giuliani and as I’m sure you’ll see with the president himself, this allows them to say, ‘You can’t believe it. You can’t believe what you read, you can’t believe what you hear, you can only believe us,’. Even the special counsel says that the media doesn’t get it right.'”
…if buzzfeed.com claims mueller has what would amount to truly impeachable evidence against President Trump, and the claim is not accurate, what do you expect mueller to do? Just leave it out there so you and your likeminded pals at CNN, MSNBC, etc. can have a field day attacking the President of the United States based on something that isn’t so?
Evidently, the answer to that is yes.
And you think that mueller simply setting the record straight is some kind of a gift to Trump and an attack on media?????
Tell us, Chris: when you get a story right (and it does happen sometimes), do you think it edifies the journalistic integrity of every member of the media, the way you think buzzfeed.com being called on its BS story is a blot on them all?
Well, if so, you do have company. Let’s not forget what your equally partisan colleague at CNN, Jeffrey Toobin, had to say about the buzzfeed debacle:
“My view is that the larger message that a lot of people are going to take from this story is that the news media are a bunch of leftist liars who are dying to get the President and they’re willing to lie to do it….it reinforces every bad stereotype about the news media.”
I wonder when it occurs to Cuomo, and Toobin, that the way for media to take down its negative stereotype requires not doing what the negative stereotype is based on.
Henny Youngman, the great old stand-up comedian, told the joke about a guy who goes to the doctor and says “It hurts when I do this”. The doctor says “Well don’t do this”. Obviously, Henny had a better understanding of how media can undo the damage it has done to itself than either of these two “journalists”.
In any event, I award Chris Cuomo Quote Of The Day “honors” for exposing his exasperation over the fact that an unfair attack on President Trump was outed as…an unfair attack on President Trump.
