Today’s quote comes to us from someone who, based on her performance so far, promises to be an ongoing treasure trove of material for this series: soon-to-be congressperson Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Today we have Ms. Ocasio-Cortez expostulating on the meaning of renewable energy:
“As a matter of fact, it’s not just possible that we will create jobs and economic activity by transitioning to renewable energy, but it’s inevitable that we are going to create jobs,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “It’s inevitable that we’re going to create industry, and it’s inevitable that we can use the transition to a hundred percent renewable energy as the vehicle to truly deliver and establish economic, social and racial justice in the United States of America.”
Yes, every job created in the effort to promote renewable energy will be a new one. But tell us, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, how many non-renewable energy jobs it will eliminate. Then please show us what crystal ball you use to “know” the result is a net gain.
Think Solyndra, and maybe you’ll have a new view of things.
As for renewable energy as a vehicle for economic, social and racial justice? Can you please elaborate. Because I doubt you can find too many people with social and/or racial aggrievements who are looking to renewable energy as the answer to their problems.
I award Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Quote Of The Day “honors” for taking mindless blathering with not a hint of knowing what she is talking about to a new level.
