Today’s quote comes to us from Nancy Pelosi – once the Speaker Of The House, now the Minority Leader, who aspires to become Speaker again.
Ms. Pelosi, nearing 80 years of age and clearly with less sharpness/mental acuity than she once had, is going to be challenged for her position. And, at least so far, the Democrats challenging her are all male and caucasian – which means that if she is replaced, the entire Democrat leadership in the Senate and House will be comprised of White males.
This, of course, is not purposeful. It is entirely incidental. There are many Black and/or female Democrat house members, any one of whom can challenge for those positions. No one is stopping them from doing so.
But, never missing an opportunity to play identity politics, here is what Ms. Pelosi has to say about it:
“We will win. I will run for speaker. I feel confident about it. And my members do, too.
“It’s important that it not be five white guys at the table, no offense. I have no intention of walking away from that table.”
In other words, “vote for me. I can’t help that I’m White, but at least I’m a woman”.
Is that a good reason to vote for Nancy Pelosi? Or anyone else?
I award Nancy Pelosi Quote Of The Day “honors”, for trying to use her gender to make a case that she still is capable of a leadership position.
Hey, look how well it worked out for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
