Today’s quote comes to us from Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the house minority leader – who, two months ago, sneeringly told the millions and millions of workers being given bonuses and raises after the Republican tax legislation passed that all they got was “crumbs”.

Well, it turns out that those millions and millions of workers seem pretty happy with those “crumbs”, and with the additional money in their paychecks Republicans’ tax legislation also provided.  President Trump’s approval ratings have gone up and polls show a surge in voters who intend to cast their ballots for Republicans rather than Democrats.

So what is Nancy Pelosi saying these days?  Well, this is what she tweeted yesterday:

“Certainly we are thankful whenever workers get bonuses. But it is *incredibly* telling that companies by-and-large chose to give out one-time bonuses, and not long term raises.”

Dear God…

First of all, we see a 180 degree backtrack on the the “crumbs” remark.  when Pelosi said it, she certainly didn’t tell workers they should be thankful for getting those “crumbs”.

And then there is the amazingly dishonest claim that all workers got, by and large, was one-time bonuses.  Millions got raises – and virtually all got lower taxes.

I award Nancy Pelosi Quote Of The Day “honors” for showing us, as she has for years, that she is a ridiculous, integrity-free reciter of the party line, who is so bereft of honesty that she doesn’t even try to make sense any more.

I will end with a quote from Bernie Marcus, co-founder of Home Depot, who said this about the implications of Republican tax legislation, and of the comments made by Ms. Pelosi and her fellow Democrats:

“They are going to do smart things. They are going to make smart moves, and that will take a period of time, just like the small businesses. This is not going to turn overnight. Corporations are not going to open 14 buildings overnight. Come on, give me a break, you’ve got to use your brains. I mean, Democrats, use your stupid brains, you don’t have any stupid brains and don’t understand what happens.”

Now that’s something worth thinking about.
