THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from CNN “New Day” host Alysin Camerota.  And it is fascinating.

On today’s show, Ms. Camerota, provided us with a brilliant analysis of why the money being handed out by corporations immediately after President Trump and Republicans passed their tax overhaul (without so much as one Democrat vote) is a nefarious plot.

You read that right.  A nefarious plot.

Can’t figure out how hundreds of thousands of people getting money passed along to them would qualify?

Well, here how Ms. Camerota spelling it out for her guest, Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI)…and for you:

“You know, just, ever since the tax reform was announced — tax overhaul or whatever you want to call it — there have been this whole slew of companies that have come forward and said, ‘Guess what — we’re going to give out bonuses now to our employees.’

“And I have just a partial list in front of me, and there’s nine companies on here from AT&T to Boeing to Comcast, Bank of America, Sinclair, Wells Fargo, PNC — there’s all sorts of companies that say they’re going to give something to a thousand — a thousand dollars worth of bonuses to their hundreds of thousands of employees. One is going to — Bancorp is going to boost the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

“Obviously, they could have done this before the tax overhaul was announced — they were sitting on profits — but they didn’t. They did it when the tax overhaul was announced, and I’m wondering if you — as a Democrat — are worried about the wind in their sails. People vote with their pocketbook — I don’t have to tell you this — so if you just get a $1,000 bonus, you’re voting for Donald Trump again.”

See, they could have given the money away before they had it, because they had other money.  But they weren’t giving the other money to their employees until they had this money, so this money doesn’t count and it’s just a nefarious plot to get workers to vote for Donald Trump again (three years from now) because that sneaky bastard made it seem as though the tax legislation he and his fellow Republicans rammed through congress caused them to get the money they got immediately after it was rammed through which they could have gotten anyway from the other money they weren’t giving to anyone until this money was made available.

I award Alysin Camerota Quote Of The Day “honors” for taking this extremely complex concept – when you place more money in the hands of corporations they pass some of it along to their workers – and making it so simple to understand.

Feel free to wipe that glob of sarcasm off your screen any time now.
