Today’s quote comes to us from Inspector Sean McGinty, of the Minneapolis police force – or, more exactly, what remains of it.
This is Inspector McGinty’s response to Mr. Craig Paulson, owner of Pedego Electric Bikes, who advised him that, in his area, there had been “Couple robberies. Two, three robberies in the area, and some break-ins and a couple of crazy stunts” and asked what the Minneapolis police department was going to do about it:
“As far as a long-term plan I don’t have one. I have lost 30% of my street officers since the end of May. Budget cuts from COVID-19 and an additional 1.5 million from the council in August we have let go 17 CSO’s and canceled a recruit class of 29. A potential Cadet class slated for January of 2021 was also eliminated. It takes about a year to get a police Officer onto the streets with hiring, backgrounds and field training so reinforcements aren’t coming anytime soon. We are doing everything we can with what we have. I hate to see great businesses like yours and the rest of your corridor being victimized and feeling unsafe. Please let me know if you have any more questions.”
How would you feel if you were Craig Paulson? Or any other business owner in Minneapolis?
I award Quote Of The Day honors to Inspector McGinty for his blunt, honest explanation of what he, thus Mr. Paulson, thus everyone else in Minneapolis, is now up against.
I also award congratulations to the voters of Minneapolis who, by electing leftist Democrat Mayor Jacob Frey, and its 12 Democrats /one Green Party member City Council, have orchestrated the city’s defund/abolish policy toward the police; the policy that has created this situation.
Be proud, voters. You deserve all the credit.
Oh, and keep your doors locked.
