THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from South Bend, Indiana Mayor and former rising superstar in the Democrat Party, Peter Buttigieg.

It wasn’t so long ago that Buttigieg, having supplanted Robert Frances “Beto” O’Rourke, was the darling of media.  He was young, dynamic, accomplished and courageous enough to be openly gay.  What else do you need in a President?

But that was then and this is now.  In relatively short order, Kamala Harris took over the #1 spot in media-love, followed by the current winner, Elizabeth Warren (we’ll see how long she lasts) – with Joe Biden always lurking close by.

So Buttigieg, whose rags-to-riches-back-to-rags-again poll numbers barely put him in the hunt, has to re-convince us that he’s presidential material.

Here’s his latest attempt:

“I’ve got more executive experience than the President or the Vice President of the United States in government.”

Fascinating.

Peter Buttigieg has been Mayor of South Bend for 8 years – during which time South Bend has gone exactly nowhere.  Even “Mayor Pete’s” fans will have trouble pointing to any substantial improvement in the city’s fortunes.

In fact, the single most significant Buttigieg-related event over this time may have been his firing of the Black Police Commissioner, Darryl Boykins, at the start of his tenure, and the more recent, racially charged, shooting of a Black suspect by a White police officer this year, which Buttigieg handled, and continues to handle, clumsily at best (try to find Black support for his candidacy).

So that is his “executive experience..in government”.

Now let’s see about who he’s comparing himself to.

Donald Trump has been the President of the United States for 2 1/2 years. Not South Bend, Indiana but the entire United States.  Before that, ran a multi-billion dollar conglomerate.

Mike Pence has been the Vice President of the United States for 2 1/2 years.  Not South Bend, Indiana, but the entire United States.  Before that, he was a lawyer, a talk show host, a six term congressperson and the Governor of Indiana.

I therefore award Peter Buttigieg Quote Of The Day “honors” for making a statement so ridiculous that, if he were a Republican, it would be major story news throughout our media…

…which, for that reason, it won’t be.  But at least you and I know about it.
