So far, the result of hamas’ so-called “March of return” – which they are describing as the beginning of the end of Israel’s existence – is 16 are dead, and (keeping in mind that hamas has a rich history of hugely exaggerating casualties), over 1,400 injured.
Will this stop now? Unlikely. Israel must protect its border, and the “leaders” running hamas do not give a damn if their people die, whether or not it their efforts have any chance of being successful. That’s a bad combination of factors.
Let’s hope the “March of return” participants march back to their homes and demand that the billions of dollars pumped into Gaza is finally used to improve their lives, rather than to buy weaponry and enrich its leaders’ bank accounts – not necessarily in that order.
