Today’s paragraphs – and they are stunning in either their obtuseness, their assumption that the public is a bunch of numbskulls, or both, come to us from Paul Sonne, Michael Kranish and Matt Viser’s article for the Washington Post.
In their write-up of how Joe and Hunter Biden play into the Democrat attempt to impeach President Donald Trump, they grace us with the following:
Revelations that Trump, along with his personal attorney, Rudolph W. Giuliani, pressed the Ukrainians to pursue investigations into Burisma and examine the role of the Bidens have triggered an impeachment inquiry in the House, with allegations that Trump withheld U.S. support for Ukraine to ensure Kiev investigated his potential rival in the presidential election.
No evidence of criminal wrongdoing by the Bidens has surfaced. Giuliani’s primary allegation — that Joe Biden pushed for the firing of Ukraine’s top prosecutor to quash a probe into the former minister and Burisma owner Mykola Zlochevsky — is not substantiated and has been widely disputed by former U.S. officials and Ukrainian anti-corruption activists.
No evidence of criminal wongdoing? The fact (not claim, but fact) that Joe Biden demanded the BIden investigator be fired is “unsubstantiated”?
Holy excrement. There is an effing VIDEO of Joe Biden BRAGGING that he threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid to the Ukraine unless the investigator looking into the Biden/Burisma deal was fired. I’ve put this up maybe a half dozen times already, but here it is again:
Which part of this is unsubstantiated, guys? Please let me in on your secret…because it all looks pretty substantiated to me.
The closest you can come to morphing this from absolute BS-laden Democrat propaganda to fact is that the investigator may not have been the Ukraine’s top prosecutor. Then Sonne, Kranish and Viser can claim they’re technically correct.
But, if that is the case, they would also have to explain why the term “top prosecutor” was inserted there at all – since he wasn’t the one actually looking into the Bidens and Burisma; he wasn’t the one who Biden got fired so the Ukraine could get $1 billion in aid.
In other words, a straw man of the first order.
I award Paul Sonne, Michael Kranish and Matt Viser Paragaphs Of The Day “honors” for reminding us – as if any sentient person needs another reminder – that the Washington Post, like the new york times, has turned from news reportage to Class Z propaganda.
