One of the oldest tricks in the book is to accuse others of what you yourself are doing, thereby deflecting scrutiny from where it should be.
With that in mind, please read the following excerpt from John Solomon and Sara Carter’s article at circa.com:
The National Security Agency under former President Barack Obama routinely violated American privacy protections while scouring through overseas intercepts and failed to disclose the extent of the problems until the final days before Donald Trump was elected president last fall, according to once top-secret documents that chronicle some of the most serious constitutional abuses to date by the U.S. intelligence community.
More than 5 percent, or one out of every 20 searches seeking upstream Internet data on Americans inside the NSA’s so-called Section 702 database violated the safeguards Obama and his intelligence chiefs vowed to follow in 2011, according to one classified internal report reviewed by Circa.
The Obama administration self-disclosed the problems at a closed-door hearing Oct. 26 before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that set off alarm. Trump was elected less than two weeks later.
The normally supportive court censured administration officials, saying the failure to disclose the extent of the violations earlier amounted to an “institutional lack of candor” and that the improper searches constituted a “very serious Fourth Amendment issue,” according to a recently unsealed court document dated April 26, 2017.
The admitted violations undercut one of the primary defenses that the intelligence community and Obama officials have used in recent weeks to justify their snooping into incidental NSA intercepts about Americans.
I am not familiar with circa.com, and cannot vouch for the accuracy of this report. But it is also being reported by Andrew McCarthy at National Review.
And Fox News:
This, plus the specific reference to an FISA court ruling, convinces me this is real. And devastating..if the public is aware of it.
The problem? Making the public aware of it is the job of mainstream media.
This story has been out for three days. And it has broken in the midst of mainstream media’s continued efforts to find something – anything- that they can use to “prove” Russia colluded with the Trump people to steal last year’s presidential election.
There remains not one shred of hard evidence that the Russia/Trump collusion took place. But, for three days, there has been specific hard evidence that the Obama administration tried to do exactly what Democrats are accusing Republicans of – illegally undermining the election process to get their party in power.
The fact that these same media, who are falling all over each other to find evidence they can use to nail Donald Trump, have evidence that implicates Barack Obama? Ignored.
Then they expect us to find them credible; to trust their news reports.
Why would we do any such thing?
