Have you, by any chance, read about the “New Green Deal” (NGD), a non-binding resolution being floated by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who doesn’t know any better, and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA), who should know better, but apparently doesn’t either?

If not, let me acquaint you with it by listing out its goals, straight from the FAQ its proponents put out:

– We will begin work immediately on Green New Deal bills to put the nuts and bolts on the plan described in this resolution (important to
say so someone else can’t claim this mantle).

– This is a massive transformation of our society with clear goals and a timeline.

– The Green New Deal resolution a 10-year plan to mobilize every aspect of American society at a scale not seen since World War 2 to achieve
net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and create economic prosperity for all.  It will:

. Move America to 100% clean and renewable energy

. Create millions of family supporting-wage, union jobs

. Ensure a just transition for all communities and workers to ensure economic security for people and communities that have
historically relied on fossil fuel industries

. Ensure justice and equity for frontline communities by prioritizing investment, training, climate and community
resiliency, economic and environmental benefits in these communities.

. Build on FDR’s second bill of rights by guaranteeing:

.. A job with a family-sustaining wage, family and medical leave, vacations, and retirement security

.. High-quality education, including higher education and trade schools

.. Clean air and water and access to nature

.. Healthy food

.. High-quality health care

.. Safe, affordable, adequate housing

.. Economic environment free of monopolies

.. Economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work

The document continues – massively, and every bit as unattainably – without even the remotest indication of how it could possibly be implemented, what an impossibly disastrous affect it would have on our economy, or how it could possibly be funded.

And, of course, no requirement that people who can work have to do so – it’s all there for “freeeee”.  Wheeeee’.

All they left out was a unicorn in every backyard  and a barbeque pit for burning MAGA merchandise.

This absolute, U.S. Government Prime Insanity is supposed to be taken seriously?  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the House’s leading loudmouthed ignoramus (and, believe me, it took plenty for her to overtake some of the others there) is the future of the Democrat Party?

Nancy Pelosi – protecting what cachet she’s got left – made it clear that she does not take this at all seriously.  She disdainfully referred to it as “the green dream or whatever they call it”.

But there it is, out there for everyone to see.  Lunacy on wheels.

I wonder how many Democrat presidential candidates will latch on to it….

UPDATE: If you think what you just read is beyond belief, try reading David Harsanyi’s commentary at He hits a lot more areas, and shows this looney-tunes proposal to be ten times more insane then I did. You won’t believe your eyes.

  • Maybe it was a good thing the Democrats had some success in the mid term elections, now everyone can see how absolutely INSANE that party has become!

  • This Common Sense, Intersectional, Nude Green Deal — or is that Green New Deal — is the most logical and well thought out proposal I’ve seen.

That is, if you limit the field to ideas that are Bat-$hit crazy .
The Congressional resolution has several aims:

    1. More and more free publicity for a newcomer who says she can’t afford a DC apartment, but is only seen with $3-$4 Thousand of clothes on her back.
    2. Extensive coverage of nonsense, but also giving exposure to ordinary hard left & socialist ideas. Socialist ideas that otherwise would be ignored, but now get a stage.
    3. AOC, GND, etc are now firmly etched in public discourse.
    4. It will all be financed by having leprechauns contribute their pots of gold on St. Patrick’s Day.
