What do you do when your “New Green Deal” – which must have seemed like a great idea at the time – turns out to be so absurd, such a romanticized fantasy, such an affront to even basic common sense, that you will be even more of a natinal laughingstock than you already are?

You lie about it, that’s what.

From Susan Ferrechio’s article for the Washington Examiner:

On Feb. 5, the congressional office of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted a new blog entry under “energy issues” detailing her “Green New Deal” proposal and answering “frequently asked questions.”

The page, announcing an 8:30 a.m. launch on Feb. 7, is now gone, and a top adviser suggested Friday it was actually authored and distributed by the GOP.

The document vanished just hours after Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., formally unveiled a “Green New Deal” resolution that has so far attracted 67 Democratic co-sponsors in the House. It’s a nonbinding measure that is less detailed than the now-deleted FAQ document but calls for a complete and speedy overhaul of the nation’s energy, transportation, and farming sectors in order to eliminate carbon emissions in the coming decades.

The communications staff has so far not responded to an inquiry about the now-missing blog post.

But on Saturday morning, chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti tweetedthat the FAQ page was indeed posted by the Ocasio-Cortez staff but was done so in error.

First let’s blame it on those dastardly Republicans.  But it’s not working.  So we admit it came from our office.   But, hey, we really didn’t mean it the way it was written.  Just forget that version and read our new one.  That’s what we really meant to say.  Honest (wink, wink).

And what was so ludicrous about the original version?  Well, two of its components mentioned by Ms. Ferrechio were its calls to  “eliminate emissions from cows or air travel” and to provide “economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work.”

See, the only way that can happen is to eliminate cows and eliminate air travel – unless you can figure out a way for cows to fart clean, renewable energy, that is.

And, in case you think the nuttiness stops at cows and air travel, click here to read a bunch more.

If there is a funny part to this circus, it is that mainstream media, ever vigilant to promote what passes for leftward Democrat thought these days, has turned Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez into a major-league media event.  A day doesn’t pass without her being featured on the news in some way.  And the Green New Deal is Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s latest emanation from the child’s-quality fantasy land she seems to live in.

But how about the 67 Democrat who immediately signed on with her?

Apparently, fantasyland is brimming to overflow these days.

I wonder what voters – especially the midwest voters whose jobs would go bye-bye with the “Green New Deal”, are reacting.  Do Ms. Ocasi-Cortez and her newfound acolytes think about that?

Remember, in 2016, when media gave then-candidate Donald Trump the preponderance of their coverage – and, by so doing, knocked out all the potential Republican candidates they thought had a chance to beat Hillary Clinton for the presidency, thus insuring her win?  How’d that work out?

Well, now they’re doing it again.  They’re shining the daily spotlight on their new heroine, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and making her the face of today’s Democrat Party.  They’re “proving” that she is the future, not those neanderthal Republicans.

Some folks never learn, do they?

One other thing:  google “Green New Deal” and look at the first five pages.  Note the preponderance of positive articles.  Note the lack of virtually anything negative – even though, albeit a minority, there are certainly media venues attacking it.  And then, if you’re into self-humiliation, try to convince me that google doesn’t tailor itself to a left wing agenda.
