“Megan told me I was the page’s most-read columnist. But there’s now a permanently and perpetually offended class, and in order to speak, you need to use their terminology. There’s a whole lot of you-can’t-say-that-ism going on right now.”
What you just read was former Denver Post columnist Jon Caldera’s explanation of why the fact that he maintains there are just two sexes got him fired from the paper.
Note to Mr. Caldera: as someone who fully supports all gay rights, and both sympathizes and supports people who truly believe they are transgendered…
…I couldn’t agree more. There are just two sexes.
Being a gay man does not make you a woman, it makes you a gay man.
Being a gay woman does not make you a man, it makes you a gay woman.
Being a man who believes he is a woman who, by some quirk of fate is trapped in a man’s body does not make him a woman. It makes him a man who believes he is trapped in the wrong body.
Being a woman who believes she is a man who, by some quirk of fate is trapped in a woman’s body does not make her a man. It makes her a woman who believes she is trapped in the wrong body.
If you have a penis you are a man. Regardless of your sexual, emotional or attitudinal orientation.
If you have a vagina you are a woman. Regardless of your sexual, emotional or attitudinal orientation.
It is one thing to accept, sympathize with and support people who believe they have been cast in the wrong gender.
It is quite another to then pretend they actually are that different gender. They are not – no matter how much they wish they were.
Jon Caldera said nothing wrong. He should be reinstated at the Denver Post with a public apology.
