Rep. rashida tlaib (D-MI) is an Israel hater, an anti-Semite and a liar, who claims that “Palestinians”, even though they were being victimized by Jews, were so benevolent that they tried to help their Jewish victimizers after World War II (yes, she really said that – keep reading).
But, according to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), rashida tlaib is not any of those things. She, too, is a victim. Just like her “Palestinian ancestors”.
OK, let’s see where the truth is.
First, let’s look at tlaib’s actual claims about “Palestinians”, Jews and the post-WWII/holocaust period:
“I think two weeks ago or so we celebrated, or just took a moment I think in our country to remember the Holocaust.
“There’s always kind of a calming feeling I tell folks when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors — Palestinians — who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people’s passports… all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways.”
Yes, she really said that.
The fact that “Palestinian” leadership supported hitler and his “final solution”, and the fact that they refused a post-war partitioned solution where they and Israel could peacefully co-exist, and the fact that, with the full support of “Palestinian” leadership, Israel was attacked by five Arab armies the day it came into existence as a secular state, and the fact that no peace offer of any kind has been accepted by Palestinian Arabs in the 72 years since? To rashida tlaib and her pals, that is irrelevant’n’immaterial.
So, of course, the Democrat leadership was shocked and outraged by this incredibly dishonest, cynical rewriting of history and immediately condemned it, right?
Nope. This is today’s Democrat Party. The party which clearly thinks they own the Jewish vote and that, as a consequence of this ownership, Jews will overlook any outrage from any Democrat against the state of Israel or Jews in particular (Note: with terrible sadness, I acknowledge that, for a great many, their assessment is correct.
President Trump had no problem at all condemning tlaib for her lies. This is what he tweeted:
Democrat Rep. Tlaib is being slammed for her horrible and highly insensitive statement on the Holocaust. She obviously has tremendous hatred of Israel and the Jewish people. Can you imagine what would happen if I ever said what she said, and says?
Is Mr. Trump correct? Is what tlaib said horrible and highly insensitive? Would he be nailed for saying the same words – keeping in mind that, for almost two years, he has been nailed for the lie that he called nazis and White supremacists “very fine people”? I’d certainly say so.
But Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Hoyer, both being champions of Israel and of Jewish people, would surely go at least as far as Mr. Trump in their condemnation, wouldn’t they?
In a word, no.
In fact, they both went in exactly the opposite direction. Instead of condemning what tlaib said, they both defended her.
Doubt me (and I don’t blame you if you do)? Here are their exact quotes.
“I think President Trump and the Republicans in the House owe Congresswoman Tlaib an apology. She didn’t say that. She didn’t say what they said she said.
“When we think that somebody has done something that they didn’t understand or misrepresent … or just didn’t understand how it was heard, we say to them, ‘You have to be clearer in your comments.’
“But this (Tlaib’s comment) was very clear. The Republicans just decided they would make hay with this in a way that was despicable.”
“If you read Rep. @RashidaTlaib’s comments, it is clear that President Trump and Congressional Republicans are taking them out of context. They must stop, and they owe her an apology.”
OK. You have now read what tlaib said, what President Trump tweeted, and the reaction of the two top House Democrats.
You decide who owes who an apology…
…and which side gives a damn about Israel and Jews.
All I ask is that you be honest.
