You didn’t seriously think that House Judiciary Committee chairperson Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) intended to give Republicans a real shot at asking Robert Mueller tough questions, did you?
From Griffin Connolly’sarticle at thehill.com:
Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s testimony before Congress might be delayed until July 24, a week later than originally scheduled, to accommodate questioning from more members, multiple media outlets reported Friday.
Mueller and House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler have been negotiating the framework of the hearing for weeks and announced yesterday that the special counsel’s testimony, initially scheduled for next Wednesday, July 17, would last no more than two hours.
The hearing set for July 24 has been lengthened to three hours.
Not even a nice try, Jerry.
The funny part is, one of the reasons Nadler was forced to reconsider the bare-bones amount of testimony allotted to Mueller was that the junior Democrats on the committee were complaining as much as Republicans were that they would not get enough time to question him.
Are you still 100% sure Mueller will ever be allowed to testify for even one minute before this committee, or, for that matter, the House Intelligence Committee, chaired by Adam Schiff (D-CA)?
Not to toot my own horn, but I smelled this one out right from the beginning.
And a stunt like this by Nadler is doing nothing to dissuade me.
We’ll see if Robert Mueller ever shows up in these committee hearings.
Because if he does, it will be a disaster for Democrats. And even a pair of hopeless hacks like Jerrold Nadler and Adam Schiff know it.
