According to an Eric Cortellessa’s article for the Associated Press, via timesofisrael.com:
The new US Embassy in Jerusalem will open in May 2018 to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Israel declaring independence, two Trump administration officials said Friday.
In October of 1994, congress voted emphatically to make this move. The house, b a 374-37 vote and the senate by 93-5.
But then-President Bill Clinton never moved the embassy to Jerusalem. Nor did President Bush, Nor did President Obama, who spent eight years making a point of icing our relations with Israel.
Donald Trump – the guy mainstream media had no problem calling an anti-Semite throughout his presidential campaign (despite the fact that he has always had Jews around him) is the President who made good on that vote.
And, if the above story is true, he will put an exclamation point on the move by formalizing it on Israel’s Independence Day; it’s “July 4th”.
That says a lot. I wonder how many members of the “Lost Tribe” – i.e. Jews and non-Jews who support Israel but had no problem at all supporting Barack Obama (or any other candidate as long as there was a “D” after his/her name) – will crack their personal firewalls long enough to give him credit for it.
