The senate trial phase of the impeachment farce begins today.
It begins with Democrats demanding that new witnesses be called, despite the fact that, according to the Constitution, the House calls the witnesses and, if it votes to impeach, the Senate then tries the case the House has provided.
And if that doesn’t make it farcical enough, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has proposed that there be 24 hours for each party to make its case – 12 for Democrats and 12 for Republicans – over just 2 days; in other words, 12 hour sessions each day.
