You can’t make this stuff up.
From Edmund DeMarche and Amy Lieu’s article at foxnews.com:
A dozen migrants traveling by foot from Honduras to the U.S. to seek asylum filed a class-action lawsuit Thursday against President Trump, the Department of Homeland Security and others, claiming a violation of their due process under the Fifth Amendment.
The Fifth Amendment states that, “no person… shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”
A recent PBS report cited former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who ruled in 1993 case that “it is well established that the Fifth Amendment entitles aliens to due process of law in a deportation proceeding.”
You’re kidding, right? Citizens of another country, who are not now and have never been in the United States, are suing for due process under U.S. law?
Due process for WHAT? Being mistreated in a country they have not entered?
I would love to know which group(s) filed this idiot’s delight of a lawsuit.
And I would love to know how Justice Scalia’s ruling on deportation relates in any way, shape, manner or form to people who are not here, thus have not been and cannot be deported.
Have the people promoting/funding this “caravan” gone completely out of their minds? Or do they just assume that their supporters are so dumb and/or so committed that the idiocy of such a lawsuit will not matter to them?
